We decided to spend a portion of this vacation in Lofoten, a series of islands above the arctic circle. Getting there took 3 short flights, each on a smaller airplane. This took most of the day, but was an improvement over our original idea of taking a train and then a ferry, which would still have involved 2 flights and taken 2 days.
On the flight in, I was already in love with the view. Bill got a rental car and driving to our AirB&B was like the reverse of our first day on Islay. This time, he drove and I took pictures.
But only with my phone.
Our accommodations are a little over an hour from the airport. Or, they would have been if not for both an accident and road construction on the main road. We are staying in a small apartment on a pier. It's a little smaller than expected from the pictures, but way larger than our room in Stockholm. And the view is pretty good.
We are, again, off tourist season, and passed only one open restaurant on our way to the local grocery store. That made dinner easy to figure out. The stop at the grocery store was for breakfast ingredients since we'll be cooking our own this week.
Dinner was fish soup for me and a giant pile of fish, vegetables and bacon for Bill. We both had a beer from the oldest brewery in Norway to wash it down.
Now to have a go at figuring out how the heat works in this place.
